A GREAT CARING OPPORTUNITY!
I received this from the City of Madison Police because my neighborhood is in the Leopold School zoning. This would be a great way to benefit the community. Could you please circulate this to folks you know? Thanks! janetjohnson@kw.com

FW: COMMUNITY POLICING TEAM - HELPING KIDS BIKERIDE SAFELY AND SKILLFULLY Dear Neighbors,
As many of you know, the officers of the South District Community Policing Team are active advocates for the expanded use of biking throughout our community. We are in the process of piloting a program to encourage more kids to safely ride bikes to school. On September 1st, the South CPT will begin riding to school with kids enrolled in the Leopold Bike Club. All of these kids come from lower income families and reside in South Madison in the Leopold School attendance area. Although we have many kids who want to ride, most do not have access to a bicycle.

One of the components of the program is for those who successfully complete 21 days of biking to school to be rewarded with a bike they can call their own. This is where you might help. If you happen to have a serviceable bicycle that is sitting collecting dust and you are interested in finding it a good home, please let me know. I can help you in making a deserving kid very happy and also help promote a happy, safe lifestyle.

The kids who would like to ride range in age from six to nine years of age. We are currently in need of about 10 safe, gently used, kid appropriate bikes. If you can help, please contact me via email ddexheimer@cityofmadison.com

Thank you so much for your consideration. PO David J Dexheimer, South District Community Policing Team
