Q. The agent has been a licensed salesperson in Wisconsin for several years, but more recently wrote and passed the broker exam in February 2010 and started his own brokerage. He completed the required 32 hours of training during February. Does he need to take CE courses this year? His license expires on December 14, 2010.
A. Because this individual received his broker’s license with the Department of Regulation and Licensing in 2010 -- within the current biennium -- he would be exempt for this period.
Wis. Admin. Code § RL 25.065(5) provides that, “A person who receives an original salesperson’s or broker’s license during a licensing biennium is not required to satisfy the continuing education requirement during the biennium in which the person receives that license.”
